Cristhian Adames hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and the New Orleans Baby Cakes held on to defeat the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 3-2 on Monday afternoon.
The New Orleans Baby Cakes will be hosting the Major League Baseball Jr. Home Run Derby at the Shrine on Airline on Monday, April 23 starting at 6 p.m. Registration is limited to the first 200 children.
Infielder Johnny Giavotella, who starred at Jesuit High School and the University of New Orleans, has joined the New Orleans Baby Cakes active roster after starting the season on the disabled list.
For each game while the Pelicans are in the playoffs, fans are invited to show their support by wearing Pelicans gear to the game and receive $5 reserved box seats at the stadium ticket office. The 'Cakes will also be wearing their throwback Pelicans uniforms each night the Pels are at home, starting with Thursday's game against the Sky Sox.
In recognition of 15 years of hosting the Wally Pontiff, Jr. Classic at the Shrine on Airline, the New Orleans Baby Cakes will retire Pontiff's LSU jersey number 31 during a ceremony on Friday, July 27 when the Baby Cakes host the Tacoma Rainiers.
