Catholic League football gets underway on Friday as two of the top tier teams in the district go head-to-head under the lights at the Shrine on Airline when the John Curtis Patriots (3-0) host the Brother Martin Crusaders (2-1) for the inaugural matchup.
Beginning on Friday, September 23, Zephyr Field will play host to eight prep football games featuring John Curtis, Archbishop Rummel, Brother Martin, Holy Cross, Jesuit, St. Augustine and Archbishop Shaw.
With only 17 days between the end of the Zephyrs' baseball season and the first-ever high school football game at Zephyr Field, the groundskeeping crew has a small window to convert the Shrine on Airline from a "field of dreams" to "Friday night lights."
Zephyr Field will host the Catholic League Football Series during the 2016 high school football season, bringing eight games to the "Shrine on Airline" beginning Friday, September 23.
